Journaling is not only helpful for tracking your progress, but also could serve as a powerful cathartic tool for emotional release and clarity. If you are working with the talking therapist your journal could also provide a useful companion to your session work. Remember that the benefits of  talking therapy greatly depend on your personal efforts, discipline and dedication. Therapists generally could be compared to guides and facilitators of your growth, but ultimately it is you who is driving the therapy forward and it is your 'task' to participate with your own healing as fully as you can manage and depending on your circumstances.
